Pattern Maker (pattern-maker.online) is run by Pattern-Maker, based in Michigan, USA. You can reach us at help@pattern-maker.online. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what your choices are. We have kept it plain on purpose.
The short version
- The pictures you upload and the patterns you make are processed in your own browser. They are not uploaded to our server and we cannot see them.
- We keep a count of downloads so we can apply the plan limits. For visitors without an account, that count is tied to a scrambled version of your IP address, not the address itself.
- If you create an account or buy something, we hold the details needed to run your account and your orders.
- We do not sell your personal information.
What we collect and why
1. Your images and patterns
When you upload a motif or a background picture and build a pattern, all of it happens on your device. Nothing you upload or create is sent to or stored on our server. If you use Save project to my device, the project file is saved on your device only, and we never receive it. Keep it safe, because we have no copy to give back.
2. Download counts for visitors without an account
To give each visitor their trial download, we record a one-way scrambled code (a salted hash) made from your IP address, together with how many downloads that code has used. We do not store the IP address itself, and the code cannot be turned back into your address. We do this because it is needed to run the trial fairly, and we keep it only as long as the trial limit applies (see "How long we keep it" below).
3. Download counts for accounts
For signed-in users we record the number of downloads against your user ID, with the date and time of the window, so we can apply the daily and monthly limits. If you buy a Pro pass, we also record the date it ends.
4. Account and order information
If you create an account or buy from us, our shop software (WordPress and WooCommerce) collects your name, email address, password (stored in scrambled form), billing details, and your order history. If you buy a downloadable motif, we also keep a record of that order and your download access.
5. Payments
Payments are handled by our payment providers, PayPal and the WooCommerce payment gateway (WooPayments). Your card details go to them directly and are not stored on our site. They have their own privacy policies.
6. Cookies and similar technology
Our site uses cookies that WordPress and WooCommerce need to keep you signed in, remember your basket and keep the site secure. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites.
7. Technical information
Like most websites, our server and hosting company may log your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. These logs are kept by our host, Spaceship, for a short period.
8. Fonts
Our site pages and the Pattern Maker tool load their fonts from Google Fonts. When they do, your browser contacts Google, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details. Google's policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
9. Messages you send us
If you send us a message through the contact form or by email, it reaches us as an email. We keep the message and our reply so we can help you and keep a record. The contact form does not store your message on the website itself.
How long we keep it
- Trial and account download counts: kept for as long as needed to apply the limits, and deleted or anonymised after 12 months.
- Account information: kept while your account is open. If you ask us to delete it, we will, except for records we must keep by law (such as tax and accounting records for orders, usually several years).
- Messages: kept for 2 years after the last contact.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the UK or EU under the GDPR, or California), you may have the right to ask us to: show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit or object to how we use it, give you a copy in a portable format, or stop any sale or sharing of it (we do not sell it). To use any of these, email help@pattern-maker.online. We will reply within the time the law gives us, usually one month. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Where the law asks us to name a basis for using your information: we use account and order information to carry out our contract with you, we use download counts and server logs for our legitimate interests in running a fair and secure service, and we rely on consent only where we ask for it.
Where information is processed
Our host, payment processor and other services may be located in or process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
Children
Pattern Maker is not aimed at children under 13 (or under 16 in some countries), and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us personal information, email help@pattern-maker.online and we will delete it.
Security
We use HTTPS, keep our software updated, and limit who can access our systems. No website can promise perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If we make a significant change, we will tell account holders by email or a notice on the site.
