Terms of Use

The simple rules for using Pattern Maker, buying motifs and getting a Pro pass.

Last updated: October 2026

These terms apply to your use of Pattern Maker at pattern-maker.online, run by Pattern-Maker, based in Michigan, USA ("we", "us"). By using the site, creating an account or buying from us, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What Pattern Maker does

Pattern Maker lets you upload your own images ("motifs"), arrange them, and download a seamless repeating pattern tile. The tool runs in your browser. We do not receive or store your uploads or your patterns.

2. Plans and limits

  • Visitors without an account get a trial of 1 download in total, counted by IP address.
  • Free accounts get 5 downloads per 24 hours and 1 Pro download per calendar month, with the features listed on the plans page. Downloads after the daily allowance are watermarked until the window resets. Unused downloads do not carry over.
  • Pro is a paid pass. One payment gives you 30 days of unlimited downloads and the full set of tools, as described on the plans page. It does not renew by itself.

We may change the limits and features of any plan. If we reduce what a Pro pass gives you, the change only applies to passes bought after we tell you.

3. Accounts

You need to give correct details and keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens on your account. One person may not create several free accounts to get around the limits; we may close accounts that do. You must be old enough to form a contract where you live, or have a parent or guardian agree for you.

4. Your uploads

You keep all rights in the images you upload and the patterns you make. By uploading an image you confirm that you made it or have the right to use it this way, and that it does not break anyone else's rights or the law. Because the tool works in your browser, we do not review or keep your images, and you are responsible for them. Do not use the site to make anything unlawful, hateful or infringing.

5. Motifs from our free gallery

The gallery inside the tool contains sample motifs we provide free of charge. You may use gallery motifs in patterns for personal, non-commercial projects only. For commercial use, please buy a motif from our shop or contact us.

6. Motifs bought from our shop

Motifs sold in our shop are digital downloads. After you buy one, you may use it in patterns for personal projects and for products you sell, such as printed fabric, stationery and crafts. You may not resell, share or redistribute the motif files themselves, or put them in another motif pack or marketplace, or train an AI model on them. Each purchase is for one person or one business. We keep the copyright in the motifs.

7. Pro pass and payment

  • A Pro pass is a one-time payment. It gives you 30 days of Pro on your account, counted from the time we receive your payment.
  • It does not renew by itself, so there is nothing to cancel. When your days run out, your account returns to the free plan.
  • If you buy another pass before your days run out, the new days are added to the end of the days you have left. Your account page shows when your Pro ends.
  • You need an account to buy a pass, so that we know where to add the days.
  • We may change the price. A price change only applies to passes bought after we change it.
  • Taxes such as VAT or sales tax are added where they apply.

8. Refunds

Pattern-Maker sells digital content and digital services. Please read this section before you buy.

  • Pro pass: you can ask for a full refund within 7 days of buying it if you have made no more than 5 downloads with it. After that, a pass is not refundable. Use our contact form or email help@pattern-maker.online.
  • Downloadable motifs: because a digital file is available to you immediately and cannot be returned, purchases are final once downloaded. If the file is faulty or not as described, contact us and we will replace it or refund you.
  • If you live in the UK or EU: you normally have 14 days to cancel an online purchase. For digital content and services, you agree that we start supplying them straight away and that you lose the right to cancel once the download or service has begun, where the law allows this. Your other legal rights, such as for faulty goods or services, are not affected.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law that cannot be limited.

9. Acceptable use

Please do not try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the site, get around the download limits or the watermark, scrape the gallery or motifs, or use it for anything unlawful. We may limit or end access if you do.

10. Our rights in the site

We own the Pattern Maker tool, the site design, the name and the gallery and shop motifs, except what you upload. These terms give you the right to use the tool, not to copy it.

11. Availability and changes

We work to keep Pattern Maker running, but it is provided as it is, without a promise that it will always be available, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. We may change, pause or stop features. Because your projects are saved on your own device, please keep your own copies of any files you need.

12. Limits of our responsibility

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss of files or data. Our total responsibility to you for anything connected with the site is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose. This does not exclude responsibility that cannot be excluded by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

13. Ending your account

You can close your account at any time by emailing help@pattern-maker.online. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue (for example 4, 6, 10 and 12) will continue after your account ends.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for a significant change, tell account holders by email or a notice on the site. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept it.

15. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Michigan, USA, and its courts can decide disputes, except that if you are a consumer you keep any right to use the courts or consumer laws of the place where you live. Questions: help@pattern-maker.online, or use our contact form.
